UWGB update: Hughes will start in place of injured freshman Josh Lawrence (headaches). It will be Hughes’ first start in nearly two years. Lawrence also will miss Saturday’s game at Youngstown State. Hughes is fifth on the team in scoring behind Mike King (10.8 ppg), Morris, Parker and Rohde. UWGB has a 4-6 road record, including 3-2 in conference road games. The Phoenix leads the league in field goal percentage defense (.422) and ranks third in scoring defense (64.2 ppg). It is also the top 3-point shooting team in the league, hitting 39.3 percent of its 3s.
CSU update: The Vikings have lost 15 straight games, have not won since Dec. 13 and are down to just seven available scholarship players. Guard Percell Coles and center Walt Waters have been declared ineligible for the rest of the season, while guard Walt Chavis and center Pape Badiane are both out (broken hand). Chavis, Coles and Walters combined for 27 points and 19 rebounds in the first game against Green Bay. Robinson ranks second to UWM’s Dylan Page among the league scoring leaders.
